Merit Awards: Recognizing the outstanding athletic or academic accomplishments of our Strider athletes.
- Participation Trophy: An award to every member of the team that attends the banquet; because we stress competing, fellowship, and sportsmanship more than winning. We feel that every Strider that participates deserves an award.
- High Point Award: Honoring the athletes who have earned the highest points in each age group. This is based on the most points scored in each age group at our three home meets.
- Certificate of Record: We recognize any athlete who has set or broke an existing Steuben Striders record.
- Bob Young Scholarship: Awarded to graduating seniors who have been with the club for at least two years, and meet certain criteria set by the Executive Director.
Memorial Awards: The memorial awards below are reserved for not simply to the top athletes, but, to the Striders who best embody the characteristics of those honored.
- Tracy Montina Young Pleasant Award: This award is given in honor of the founder’s daughter who always said, “To give honor, praise, and glory to God - family, friends, and success is only a step away.” This award goes to the female who best exemplifies Tracy.
- Brian Fritz Award: Brian was a distance runner and threw the shot put. He was a Pediatric physician. He showed love for both running and field events. This award, in memory of Brian, goes to the distance runner who best exemplifies his attitude.
- Quinten Worrels Nelson Award: Quinten was a good friend and team player. He would always stay after practice and meets to help the coaches with whatever they needed. He treated everyone with respect and loved his family and God. This award goes to the male or female runner who best exemplifies Quinten.
- Kerri Sims Award: Kerri was an athlete who always cared for her fellow teammates. She told them to do their best even if they felt their best wasn’t good enough; because a winner is a person who finishes the race with heart, determination, and spirit. This award goes to the female runner who best exemplifies Kerri’s attitude.
- Gary Murry Award: This award goes to the boy or girl that best shows sportsmanship, determination, competitiveness, and dedication to the sport.

- Elizabeth Montgomery Award: A dedicated person who loved working with the Steuben Striders program. She loved helping the Striders in every way. Giving the runners encouragement even if they did not win, she always told them, “you are a winner because you tried your best, and your best is what makes you a winner”. The award goes to the girl that best exemplifies the attributes of Elizabeth.
- Thomas Mazzaferro Award: Tom and his wife helped Coach Pat to keep the Steuben Striders Track Club afloat after the passing of her husband and founder, Bob Young. Tom dedicated over 10 years of service to running the Striders program. Tom guided the athletes to do their best on the track as well at home. His mantra was, “Always try to do your best in whatever you do; just try.” This award goes to the Strider who best exemplifies the attributes Thomas.
- President Award: This is selected by the President of the Steuben Striders. The athlete must have been with the Steuben Striders for at least three years and show competitiveness, pride, and loyalty to the Strider Program. This is the second highest award given.
