Bob Young Memorial Award: This award is the highest award given in the program. The award goes to the boy and girl that best exemplifies what Mr. Young would have wanted instilled in his youngsters. The recipients must have been with the program for a minimum of two years. Attitude, competitiveness, loyalty, sportsmanship, and fellowship will be considered. Also, grades are considered as we feel education is very important in the future of all our youth.

Bob Young Scholarship: Awarded to graduating seniors who have been with the club for at least two years, and meet certain criteria set by the Executive Director.

Elizabeth Montgomery Award: A dedicated person who loved working with the Steuben Striders program. She loved helping the Striders in every way. Giving the runners encouragement even if they did not win, she always told them, “you are a winner because you tried your best, and your best is what makes you a winner”. The award goes to the girl that best exemplifies the attributes of Elizabeth.

Eugene Hargrove Award: Eugene loved working with the Striders. His motto was, “Never give up, always remember to support and congratulate your teammate”. This helps develop a lasting friendship with your fellow teammates. This award goes to the Strider who best exemplifies this.

Gary Murry Award: This award goes to the boy or girl that best shows sportsmanship, determination, competitiveness, and dedication to the sport.

President Award: Is chosen by our current president. The athlete must have been with the Steuben Striders for at least three years and show competitiveness, pride, and loyalty to the Strider Program. This is the second highest award given.

Note: These awards do not always go to the best athlete but to a member who best exemplifies what the Steuben Striders stand for.

Dear Lord, in the battle that goes on through life, I ask but a field that is fair, a chance that is equal with all in the strife, and courage to strive and to bear. And if I should win, let it be by the code with my faith and my honor held high. And if I should lose, let me stand by the road and cheer as the winners go by. Amen ” - Athlete's Prayer
